Jackson, Hazel (22 Jan. 1909 - 27 Dec. 1944)
Funeral services were conducted Friday afternoon at Stevens Point for Mrs. Harold Jackson, 35, a former resident of Colby and wife of the office manager of the Stevens Point Pulp and Paper Company, who died Wednesday evening at her home following a lingering illness. Burial was made at Stevens Point.
The former Hazel Winkel, Mrs. Jackson was born on Jan. 22, 1909, at Kewaunee, Henry County, Ill., a daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Louis Winkel. She located at Colby at the age of seven when her parents moved here. After graduating from Colby, Wis. High School she worked for the Dorchester Canning Company for a year and went to Stevens Point in February, 1928, when she entered the employ of the Hardware Mutuals Companies there. Her marriage to Mr. Jackson took place on June 14, 1940, at Marshfield.
Prior to her illness, Mrs. Jackson was an active member of the Eastern Star chapter, the Stevens Point Woman’s Club, and Frame Memorial Presbyterian church and its circles.
Surviving are her husband and two brothers, Raymond Winkel of Neillsville and Cpl. Leonard C. Winkel in England.
