On the following day, when the territory was recaptured, it was reported that a thorough search was made for Sgt. Wibben without success.

Sgt. Wibben enlisted in the U.S. Army Dec. 20, 1939. He received his training in Vancouver, Wash.; Fort Lewis, Wash.; Camp Collins, Calif.; Norfolk, Va.; and Vermont.

In August, 1942, he began commando training and received the wings of a paratrooper in September of the same year. He was a member of the American-Canadian paratroopers.

He saw action in the Pacific war zone in 1943 before being transferred to Italy.

He leaves his parents at Abbotsford, his widow, and an adopted son who resides at Deer Lodge, Mont.; four sisters, and two brothers, Alice, Dorothy, and Lyle Wibben, Abbotsford; Mrs. Adolph Beilke and Robert Wibben, Colby; and Mrs. Hilbert Remus, Stratford.
