Sazama, Wenzel (25 Dec. 1869 - 17 June 1945)
Wenzel Sazama, who had been ill the past several years, died Sunday morning of a stroke, suffered several days previously, at the age of 75 years. Funeral services were conducted Wednesday morning at 9:00 A.M. at St. Mary’s Catholic church in Colby, Rev. Francis Bienkowski officiating, and internment was made in the Colby cemetery. Pall bearers were John Sazama, Paul Sazama, Joseph Sazama, Clarence Schilling, Dr. John Sazama and Anton Sazama. Those in charge of the flowers were Dolores Hamilton, Marion Weiss, Kathleen Moberg, Irene Schilling and Janet Sazama.
The deceased was born in Germany on Dec. 25, 1869, and came to the United States in 1883 and settled on a farm five miles east of Colby in the town of Hull, Wis. He was married on October 11, 1894, to Miss Veronica Sellung at Poniatowski who survives her husband. They celebrated their golden wedding anniversary on Oct. 11, 1944.
Of the eleven children, six are living. They are Mrs. Anna Weiss of Kaukauna, Mrs. Elizabeth Hamilton of Milwaukee, Miss Leona Sazama of Milwaukee, George of Albany, Texas, Valentine and Mathie, at home. Also surviving are ten grand children, one great grand child and one brother, Joseph Sazama.
The deceased was well and favorably known, and, being of a congenial disposition, had many friends who were sorry to learn of his death.
