Henry B. Budde, a prominent farmer of the town of Colby, Wisconsin, died on Wednesday afternoon at 2:00 o’clock, at the age of 83 years, a heart ailment and old age complications being the cause of his death. He was sitting in a chair at the time. Funeral services will be held at St. Mary’s Catholic church Saturday morning at 9:30, Rev. Nicholas B. Beschta officiating, and internment will be made in the Colby cemetery.
The deceased was born on March 21, 1862, at Theresa, Wis., and later moved to Beaver Dam, Wis., with his parents where he was married to Miss Emma Dries on August 30, 1892. They moved onto a piece of wild land in the town of Colby - six miles west of the city of Colby - in June 1906. By hard and diligent work, they built a fine farm. Mrs. Budde died on Feb. 4, 1927.
Surviving are five children - Johanna Budde, at home, Mrs. Louis Beyerl of Colby, Sister M. Adillia of St. Rose Convent of La Crosse, Mrs. Earl Butler of Colby and Frank Budde, at home. Also surviving are one sister, Mrs. Theresa Schlaffer of Beaver Dam, one brother, John Budde of Beaver Dam, and seven grand children.
Mr. Budde was a good Christian, an indulgent husband and father, honest in all his dealings, and like all early pioneers, was of a congenial disposition and well-liked by all who knew him. He was president of the Family Protective Association for a number of years.
