Straka, John H. (1896? - 25 Aug. 1945)
John H. Straka, 49, town of Plover, was killed Saturday morning in a team runaway accident on his farm near Aniwa.
Straka, it was said by Dr. A. W. Burek, Marathon county coroner, who was called to the scene after the accident, suffered a crushed chest when the wagon the team was pulling when it bolted and ran over him. The accident occurred at about 10:30 o’clock.
Dr. Burek said he was told that Straka was driving a young team of horses down a hill on the farm when they bolted, pulling him forward to the ground, and that the wheels of the heavy farm wagon passed over his body.
There will be no inquest, according to Dr. Burek. He ascribed the death as accidental.
Straka, a life-long resident of the town of Plover area, leaves his widow, three sons, two daughters and several sisters.
