Gloria V. Riedel

Gloria V. Riedel, 87, of Marshfield, died Friday, April 21, 2006, at Saint Joseph's Hospital.

Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday, April 27, 2006, at Hansen Funeral Home in Marshfield. The Rev. Fredrick Mutterer will officiate. Mary Castner will provide music with Rita Berg serving as soloist.

Burial will be in Hillside Cemetery. Serving as pallbearers will be Gloria's nephews.

Friends may call from 10 a.m. until service time Thursday at the funeral home.

Gloria was born Jan. 2, 1919, in Marshfield, a daughter of Emil and Esther (Huebner) Miller. Miss Miller's schooling was through the 12th grade in Marshfield.

On Dec. 2, 1939, in Thorp, Gloria was united in marriage to Lyle Riedel. The couple lived in Marshfield until 1944, when they moved to the Eau Pleine Flowage. Gloria worked at the shoe factory and with her husband at his shoe store, Modern Shoe Repair. Mrs. Riedel lived on the flowage until Lyle's death in 1995. In 1997, Gloria moved to the Cedar Rail Apartments in Marshfield, where she resided until the time of her death.

Mrs. Riedel was a member of Grace Lutheran Church in Green Valley. She was a member of the Grace Lutheran Ladies Aid, holding positions of secretary, reporter and scripter.

She was also a member of the Fellowship Club. Her hobbies included crafts, needlepoint and embroidery.

Gloria is survived by four nieces, Rosie, Roberta and Karleen Miller and Debra Herrera, all of Arizona, and a sister-in-law, Laura Miller of Marshfield.

Preceding Mrs. Riedel in death were her husband, Lyle; parents; two brothers, Willis and Harry Miller; and one sister, Ruth.
