Giwojna, Minnie (10 SEP 1887 - 5 DEC 1940)
Mrs. Joseph Giwojna, a former resident of Thorp (Clark Co., Wis.) and late of Gilman, passed away at the hospital at Chippewa Falls of blood poisoning on Thursday, Dec. 5th, 1940. She was 53 years old, being born Sept. 10, 1887 at Lemont, Ill.
Minnie Remblewski came to Thorp with her parents at the age of three, and the succeeding years were spent in Thorp, Withee and Gilman. She was married to Joseph Giwojna at Thorp in 1904.
Besides her husband and mother, Mrs. Bartholomew Remblewski, she is survived by four sons, John and Raymond of Thorp, and Frank and Edward of Gilman; four daughters, Eva Swiental of South Bend, Ind., Frances Zorembinksi and Stella Swifka of St. Paul, and Victoria Fasnacht of Gilman; four brothers, John Remblewski of Superior, Andrew of Gilman, Edward of Oshkosh and George of Menasha, and one sister, Victoria Oleszewski of South Bend, Ind.
The body lay in state at the Bogumill Funeral Home until the time of the funeral, which was held at St. Hedwig’s Church on Saturday, Dec. 7th at nine o’clock in the morning. Interment took place in the parish cemetery. Pallbearers were John Sumiec and Charles Wichlacz of Thorp, Louis Zaborowski, Frank Wilcenski and Stanley Wrzosek of Gilman, and John Swifka of St. Paul.
