Smoczyk, Benedict "Ben" Paul (March 27, 1941 - November 28, 2007)
Benedict "Ben" P. Smoczyk, age 66, of Thorp, passed away on Wednesday, November 28, 2007, at Our Lady of Victory Hospital, in Stanley.
Funeral Services were held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, December 1, 2007, at St. Bernard-St. Hedwig Catholic Church in Thorp. Fr. Keith Apfelbeck officiated and burial followed in New St. Hedwig’s Catholic Cemetery. Visitation was held at the church, on Saturday from 9:00 a.m. until time of service.
Benedict Paul Smoczyk was born on March 27, 1941, in Stanley, WI to Frank and Frances (Mendalski) Smoczyk. He was raised in the Thorp area and received his education at Yeager School. Ben worked for many years as a farmhand and in factories until retiring due to poor health.
He is survived by two sisters: Mary Kirschner and Rose Meyer, both of Stanley; four brothers: Henry Smoczyk of Thorp, Edwin Smoczyk of Arcadia, Leon Smoczyk of Chippewa Falls, and Ernest Smoczyk of Stanley.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
