Stroinski, Edward Joseph (August 9, 1925 - December 10, 2007)
Edward J. Stroinski, age 82, of Thorp, passed away on Monday, December 10, 2007, at the House of he Dove in Marshfield, WI.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, December 15, 2007, at 10:30 a.m. at St. Mary’s Polish National Catholic Church in Lublin, WI, with Rev. Marion Talaga and Rev. John Kutek officiating. Burial will follow services in the parish cemetery.
Visitation will take place on Friday, December 14, 2007, at the Thorp Funeral Home from 4 to 8 p.m. and also on Saturday from 9 to 10 a.m. also at the Thorp Funeral Home.
Edward Joseph Stroinski was born on August 9, 1925 in Chicago, IL to Joseph J. and Wally C. (Ogurek) Stroinski. At the age of 3, Ed’s family moved to rural Thorp and purchased a farm in the Town of Taft. Shortly thereafter, Ed’s dad, Joseph, became ill and passed away. With his mother’s sole guidance, he received his education at area elementary schools and later attended Thorp High School.
He was united in marriage to Irene Pokeritz on October 23, 1948 at St. Mary’s Polish National Catholic in Lublin. Over the years, Ed worked a various jobs, which included Crane’s Feedmill, Thorp flour & Feed, O & N Lumber Co., Thorp Lumber Co., and at Larson’s Feedmill in additional to operating his 40-acre dairy farm.
He was involved in many organizations over the years such as AMPI, for the betterment of his fellow dairy farmers; he later became Chairman for the Town of Taft which he served for 20+ years, was Chairman of the Board for the Family Health Center in Marshfield which allowed low income people the opportunity to receive quality health and dental care, and also served on the St. Mary’s Church board in various capacities.
In his spare time, he enjoyed fishing, and watching his grandchildren and great-grandchildren at their sporting events, watching the Green Bay Packers and the Wisconsin Badgers.
He is survived by his four children: Edie (Edward) Nowicki of Madison, WI, Judy (Stephen) Nowicki of Nekoosa, WI, Daniel (Peggy) Stroinski of Thorp, and Allen Stroinski of Thorp; one step-daughter, Suzanne (Robert) Smith of Daytona Beach, FL; six grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; five step-grandchildren; and seven step great-grand-children; and many, many friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Irene, in 1998; and one brother-in-law, Daniel Pokeritz.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be made to the House of the Dove, 613 Western St. Marshfield, WI 54449, or to St. Mary’s Polish National Catholic Church Cemetery Fund, Lublin, WI, or the charity of your choice.
