Hansen, Hans C. (31 JAN 1854 - 15 NOV 1940)
Final rites were read by the Reverends Jens J. Holst of Alden, Minn., and J.L.J. Dixon of Withee for Hans Christian Hansen, 86 years, 9 months and 15 days of age, at the Danish Lutheran Church, Monday afternoon. Burial was made in the Danish Lutheran Cemetery.
Death came suddenly to Mr. Hansen. He had not been noticeably ill this fall but upon going to bed last Thursday evening suddenly became ill and death came early in the morning, Friday, Nov. 15, 1940, at his home.
Hans Christian Hansen was born on Jan. 31, 1854, at Sneslev, Denmark, where he lived his entire boyhood and early manhood life.
On May 2, 1889, he was united in marriage to Augusta Caroline Nielsen, this union was blessed with six children, two of whom preceded their father in death.
In 1892, three years after his marriage, , he and his family immigrated to America and made their home at Rhinelander. During the eight years he made his home there his family joined the Norwegian Lutheran Church, where Mr. Hansen was a devoted church and Sunday school worker.
In 1900 he and his family moved to a farm northeast of Withee (Clark Co., Wis.) where they lived for 26 years until 1926 when he retired and moved to Withee, where he has since made his home.
During the past 14 years, while living in Withee, he was a member of the Danish Lutheran Church, being one of its most faithful members up to the time of his passing away. His sudden departure from these earthly surroundings is mourned by his wife, Augusta, two daughters, Mrs. Frank A. (Anna) Dickhaut of Chicago, and Mrs. Albert (Thora) Madsen of Withee; and two brothers, Alfred of St. Paul, Minn., and Carl of Klamath falls, Ore.; and a brother, C.R. Hansen of Minneapolis; and seven grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren.
Those from away that attended the services were Mr. and Mrs. F.A. Dickhaut and son, Alfred of Chicago; Mr. and Mrs. Alfred Hansen of St. Paul, Minn.
