Vanderbilt, Dora M. (6 MAR 1902 - 27 NOV 1940)
Dora May Van Huizen was born in New Rockford, N.D., on March 6, 1902, the daughter of Jerry Van Huizen. While yet a small child her mother died and she was adopted into the family of Mr. and Mrs. Everett Hagman, where she had always enjoyed a pleasant home.
On Nov. 5, 1926, she was united in marriage to Floyd C. Vanderbilt, this couple lived happily until the time of her death. They raised a fine family of two boys, Eugene, 11, and Dale, 8.
Several months ago Mrs. Vanderbilt had to undergo a major operation at which time she was dreadfully ill and it was feared then that she would not survive, but her strength pulled her through and it then was believed that she was in excellent health. Her passing away came as a shock to her friends as she passed away Wednesday morning, Nov. 27, 1940, as she was preparing the family’s breakfast. She was stricken by a blood clot and instant death.
Besides her immediate family, her home-going is mourned by one sister, Mrs. James McMahon of Portage; her father and step-mother, Mr. and Mrs. Jerry Van Huizen, and a step-sister, Miss Mabel Rane of Owen, and a sister-in-law, Mrs. Ruth Nichols of Wausau.
