Stenseth, Evelyn B. (19 JAN 1941)
A very lovely late afternoon matrimonial service at St. Katherine’s Church, Owen, united Miss Evelyn Bernice Stenseth and Trifon Haritos in holy matrimony Sunday, Jan. 19, 1941.
The matrimonial service was read by Father R.E. Ortmayer.
Evelyn Bernice was given in marriage by her father, C.M> Stenseth. The bride was beautifully attired in a floor length gown of ivory taffeta faille trimmed with seed pearls and fitted with a bodice sweetheart neckline and an ivory tulle fingertip veil. She carried a colonial bouquet. Her attendants were her sisters, Marguerite and Ruth, whom wore gowns of blue taffeta designed similar to that of the bride and wore matching blue hats. They also carried colonial bouquets.
The bridegroom was attended by Louis Schuller.
Ushers at the service were Garvin Cremer, Kenneth Rice and John Barager.
The mother of the bride wore a dress of soldier blue and a gardenia corsage while the groom’s mother wore a moss green dress with a shoulder corsage of gardenias.
At the opening of the service Miss Doris Anderson, a close friends of the bride, sang At Dawning, and Merle Jenks of Abbotsford sand, Oh Promise Me.
Following the service a reception for the couple’s friends was held in the community hall and then at six o’clock in the evening a dinner for immediate friends and relatives was held at the Woodland Hotel.
The young couple left that evening for a two-day trip before making their home at La Crosse, where the bridegroom is employed in the office of the Northern States Power Co.
Those from away that attended the wedding service were: Mrs. Eulalie Haritos, Mrs. Hathies and daughters, Rosemary, Mrs. Peters, Willard Hanson, Ted Solie, Jr., Mr. and Mrs. Bob Rice, Miss Virginia Stead, Harold Miller, John Berg, Dick Tausche, Miss Mayme Conway, of La Crosse; Louis Schuller of Albert Lea, Minn.; Garvin Cremer of Milwaukee; Kenneth Rice of Chicago; Mr. and Mrs. Peter Stenseth, Mr. and Mrs. Peters and sons of Chippewa Falls; Miss Irene Stenseth, Mr. and Mrs. Van Baron of Eau Claire; Miss Peggy Brown of Minneapolis, Minn., Merle Jenks of Abbotsford; and Mr. and Mrs. Melvin Buckholtz of Ladysmith.
Miss Evelyn Bernice Stenseth was honored at a shower given for her at the Community hall a week ago Friday evening by Mesdames L.W. Cattanach, Henry Anderson and V.P. Barager. The evening was enjoyed playing cards, followed by a delicious lunch after which the bride to be was present with many beautiful gifts and best wishes.
