Schindler, Elmer (19 Nov. 1923 - 6 Dec. 2007)

Elmer Schindler, 84, Curtiss, died Thursday, Dec. 6, 2007, at Clark County Health Care Center, Owen, Wis.

Funeral services were held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, Dec. 12, at Clark County Health Care Center Chapel, Owen, Wis. Internment was in St. Anthony’s Catholic Cemetery, Loyal. Father Ben Franklin presided.

Elmer was born November 19, 1923 in Chippewa County to Sebastian and Anna (Bowe) Schindler.

He served in the US Air Force during WW2. After his discharge, Elmer worked as a mechanic in Chicago from 1949-1971. He then moved to the Curtiss area and operated Curtiss Auto Service with his brother James until retiring in 1983.

Elmer continued living in the Curtiss area until moving to the health care center for the past year.

He is survived by two sisters, Leona Lieske, Minnetonka, MN, and Margaret Hinkel, Madison; and three brothers, Fred (Cecelia) Schindler Sr., Curtiss, Albert, Lemont, IL, and James (Lois) Schindler, Unity, Wis.

Edward was preceded in death by his parents; four sisters, Elmira, Marie, Valorie and Bernadette; and two brothers, Edward and Kenneth.

Marina-Community Funeral Homes assisted the family with arrangements.
