Ayer, Elaine G. (Marriage - 22 June 1946)

Elaine G. Ayer, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Walter Ayer of Spencer, and Owen D. Hanson, son of Mr. and Mrs. Edwin Hanson of Colby, exchanged marriage vows at Zion Lutheran church in Colby at 4:00 P.M. Saturday, June 22, Rev. O. Hoffmann reading the marriage ceremony. The church was decorated with lighted candles and baskets of white gladiolus and peonies. Elaine Johnson of Unity, a close friend of the bride, was maid of honor. Darlene Hanson, sister of the groom, was bridesmaid. The groom was attended by his brother, Eldor Hanson, as best man and his cousin, Eugene Zeuske of Antigo.

The bride was attired in a white taffeta gown with net over skirt and train. The high neckline was decorated with seed pearls. Her bouquet consisted of red roses sprinkled with swansonia and trimmed with white lace. The maid of honor wore a frock of white marquisette with sweetheart neckline trimmed with velvet bows. The bridesmaid wore a frock of white satin with net overskirt. Both attendants wore blusher veils and both had bouquets of sweet peas, red roses and swansonia. Both the mothers of the bride and groom viewed the wedding with black suits, white accessories and red rose corsages.

A reception was given at the home of the bride’s parents which was decorated with white wedding bells, streamers and candles. The tables were decorated with large white candles and a large wedding cake was the central decoration.

The couple left on a wedding trip to Northern Wisconsin and Canada and will be at home after June 28 at Colby, Wis. The bride’s going away attire consisted of a coco brown suit with brown accessories.

The bride is a graduate from the Unity, Wis. High School in 1946. The groom received his honorable discharge Dec. 18, 1945, after serving three and one-half years in the army, three years of which were in the Pacific theatre of operations. He is now employed as a cheesemaker in the Welcome Dairy, town of Hull, Wis.
