WM. STREBE KILLED WHILE HUNTING

William Strebe, 28 years old, of Goodrich, was instantly killed, while hunting Northeast of Goodrich at four o’clock Wednesday afternoon. He was shot through the head with a 33 Winchester Special bullet fired by Walter Esswein, who believed the man to be a bear.

Strebe was climbing a tree at the time, and was about twenty-four feet from the ground. He and his brother Otto and two others were out hunting together. Walter Esswein and Herbert Miller formed another party. The latter two were not aware of the presence of the other hunters in the immediate locality.

The body was taken to the undertaking parlor of N. W. Gilles, who immediately notified Coroner Mielahn of Wausau. The coroner came in the evening, but when the investigation disclosed the fact that death took place in Lincoln County, the authorities of that county were notified.

Deceased has been a resident of Goodrich for about a year, moving to that place from Stratford. He was married about two years ago. His is survived by his wife and one year old daughter, three brothers, Otto Ray and Robert, also of Goodrich, and three sisters, Mr. George Jurgenson of Bruce, and Mrs. Clarence Bond of Berlin, His mother is living at Berlin, Wis.
