ED GREEN DIES IN HAY MOW
Mr. Ed Green a resident of this village passed to his eternal resting place on Tuesday afternoon about three o’clock as a result of sun stroke received while he was unloading a load of hay at the barn on his farm.
Mr. Green and his two sons had been in the field for some time. Coming in they drove directly to the barn and had half of the load in the mow when one of the boys noticed his father lying from one side of the hay rake to the side of the mow. He called to his brother who was further back in the mow and they both rushed to the mow where he might receive a good breeze, one left for the store of Green Brothers where Mr. Ben Green was told of what was taken to be a fainting spell and he with his wife made their way to the home of Mr. Green. Dr. Crane of Dorchester was called. When he arrived he declared that Mr. Green had died from a sun stroke almost immediately after he had fell to the mow.
Mr. Green leaves two daughters and three sons and his beloved wife. He was well known in this community as well as the several communities around about. He was known to all men as a Christian and one interested in the better things of life. A member of the Congregational Church of this village, he labored for the things for which it stands. He will be missed by all for his kindly words and his cheerful way though for the last two years he has been ill and at times hardly able to get about. His family were very dear to him and his relationship with then will be their great help now.
"Not dead but sleeping." "Night came releasing him from labor - When a hand from out of the darkness - Touches him and he slept."
Note: Birth and death dates were confirmed from the ALHN - Clark County records for Pine Hill Cemetery, Township of Mayville, Clark County. Edward M. Green’s wife is Minnie (Scidmore).
