Unity, Wis. - May 23, 1946
Baccalauerate services for the high school graduating class were held Sunday evening at the Methodist church. The program included the sermon by Rev. M. B. Ferguson, prayer and scripture reading and benediction by Rev. J. A. Olson, organ selections by Mrs. Elmer Langjahr and selections by the choir and male quartet.
Rev. Ferguson chose as his subject, "To What Purpose?" Scripture text, "The Stone which the builders refused is become the head stone of the corner. This is the Lord’s doing; it is marvelous in our eyes." "This is the day which the Lord hath made, you may rejoice and be glad in it." Ps. 118. Fill your mind with truth and you may defy the devil to fill it with criors. Your education depends upon the knowledge of how to use the whole of yourself. A man is educated who knows how to make a tool out of every faculty - how to open it, how to keep it sharp and how to apply it to all practical purposes. The true order of learning should be; first, what is necessary; second, what is useful; third, what is your purpose. To reserve this arrangement, you must follow the Jesus way of life.
