Curtiss, Wis. - June 13, 1946
Mr. and Mrs. Grant Herrick left on Sunday for Columbus to visit their son and daughter in law, Mr. and Mrs. Grant Herrick, Jr. From there they went to Milwaukee where Mr. Herrick will attend Grand Lodge F. & A.M. Herbert Fahrenbach is substituting on the rural route during his absence.
Mr. and Mrs. Lee Smiley and children visited several days last week with Mr. and Mrs. Mervin Hawks at Marengo and the former’s brother and sister in law, Mr. and Mrs. Donald Smiley at Duluth.
Mr. and Mrs. F. W. Laabs left on Wednesday for Rochester, Minn., where Mr. Laabs will receive a physical checkup at the Mayo Clinic.
The Misses Irene and Elenore Semingson of Minot, N.D., visited at the Rev. G. E. Borreson home the past week.
Miss Mary Thompson, who taught at Neenah the past year, returned home last Friday to spend her vacation.
Cpl. Norman Erickson of Fort Ky., arrived home last Tuesday to spend a 10-day furlough. When he returns to Ft. Knox on June 14th he will enter an officers training camp at that place.
Mr. and Mrs. Robert Green of LaCrosse visited the former’s mother, Mrs. Minnie Green, this week while enroute home from a ten-day vacation in Northern Wisconsin.
Rev. and Mrs. G. E. Borreson and family left on Sunday for Minneapolis where they will attend the bi-annual convention of the N.L.C.A.
The many friends here of Miss Elaine Jakel and Henry Hermanson were surprised when their parents received announcements of their marriage at Warsaw, Ind., on June 4. They are both graduates of the Owen High School. The bride is also a graduate of Central State Teachers College, Stevens Point, and has been teaching in the high schools of Medford and Phillips.
