Orth, John (9 Jun. 1879 - 18 Oct. 1946)

John Orth of Colby, age 67 years, died Friday afternoon at 3:00 P.M. at St. Joseph’s hospital at Marshfield following an operation. He had been in the hospital since Oct. 13th. Funeral services were conducted on Monday morning at 9:30 o’clock at St. Mary’s Catholic church, Rev. N. B. Beschta reading the requiem high mass. Burial was made in the Colby (Colby, Clark Co. Wis.) Cemetery. Pall bearers were C. J. Kraus, Victor Frane, Joe Allar, Matt Allar, Ed Becker and John Frinack.

Mr. Orth was born in the town of Colby on June 9, 1879, and was married in Colby, Wisconsin on Nov. 20, 1915, to Barbara Miller who died on Aug. 26, 1946. They lived on a farm on the west edge of the Colby city limits until about 20 years ago.

Surviving are a daughter, Mrs. Edwin (Cecelia) Lochanis of Milwaukee, a son, Andrew of Milwaukee, and four brothers and five sisters, Matt and Conrad Orth of Colby, George Orth of Abbotsford, Charles Orth of Seattle, Wash., Mrs. Angus McKinnon of St. Paul, Mrs. Charles Eichlipp of Phillips, and Mrs. Theo. Steinwand, Mrs. Paul Tesmer and Mrs. Otto Baumgart, all of Colby, Wisconsin. There are also three grand children. One brother, Peter Orth of Lugerville, and his parents preceded him in death.

Out of town people here for the funeral were Mrs. Edwin Lochanis and Andrew Orth of Milwaukee, Mr. and Mrs. Tony Miller and Mr. and Mrs. C. Mead of Marshfield, Mrs. Albert McKannen, Miss Connie Foster and Oscar Johnson of St. Paul, Minn., Mrs. Lena Eichlipp of Phillips, Mr. and Mrs. George Orth of Abbotsford, Joe Miller of Rib Lake, Mr. and Mrs. Fred Miller and Mr. and Mrs. Joe Miller of Unity.
