Stieber, LaVera (Marriage - 26 Aug. 1947)

Miss LaVera Stieber, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Roman Stieber of Colby, and Joseph Pech, son of Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Pech of Unity, were united in marriage at St. Mary’s Catholic church in Colby, Wisconsin on Tuesday morning, August 26, Rev. N. B. Beschta reading the marriage ceremony. Joyce Merwin was maid of honor and Marion Hartl was bridesmaid. The groom was attended by David Stieber, the bride’s brother, and Brice Bender.

The bride was attired in a gown of white silk marquisette and lace yoke and lace peplum, lace ruffles attached with embroidered bows on skirt and full train, seed pearl Dutch bonnet on fingertip lace edged veil. Her bouquet consisted of white roses and gladioli surrounding orchid rose buds tied with white satin streamers. The maid of honor wore an orchid gown, sweetheart neckline, with orchid nylon skirt, gloves and bonnet to match. Her fan-shaped bouquet consisted of white mums and orchids. The bridesmaid wore a dress identical to that of the maid of honor but in pale green and had a similar bouquet.

A reception was given at the bride’s home which was decorated with orchid, aqua and white streamers and wedding bells. 145 guests were in attendance. In the evening a dance was given at Walter’s pavilion.

The couple left on a wedding trip to New York City, and, on their return will be at home on the groom’s farm.

Barnes of Chicago, Mr. and Mrs. Ed Becker of Milwaukee, Mr. and Mrs. Felix Boehm and Bobby Schmit of West Allis, Mr. and Mrs. Alfred Stieber of Merrill, Mrs. Tom Klemick and Mr. and Mrs. Louis Lyon of Wausau, Rev. Valentine Klemick of Minnesota, Mr. and Mrs. Mike Gassner, Mr. and Mrs. Philip Gassner and family, Mr. and Mrs. Joe Gassner, Mr. and Mrs. Edwin Volhund and family, Mr. and Mrs. Fred Stieber and sons and Mr. and Mrs. Rudy Stieber and family and Grandpa Stieber, all of Marathon City.
