Sturner, Gladys (28 Jan 1905 - 21 Feb 1926)

The people of this community were saddened Sunday when they learned of the death of Gladys Sturner, twenty-one year old daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John Sturner of this village.

She had suffered from poor health at various times since an attack of diphtheria and spinal meningitis when she was a child of ten years, and her last illness was the final development of that trouble years ago.

She had been an invalid for nearly a year and death came as a release from weeks of suffering, though it leaves a sadness and deep grief in the hearts of those to whom she was very dear.

Sincerest sympathy is extended to the sorrowing ones.

The funeral was held Thursday afternoon a the home. Rev. Rosenow of Colby officiating and interment was made in the Lutheran cemetery.

The obituary will be printed next week.

OBITUARY

Gladys Sturner, only daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John V. Sturner was born January 27th, 1905 at Dorchester and passed away at her home here February 21, 1926 at the age of 21 years and 25 days.

Her parents moved to Curtiss when she was a little girl, nine years of age where she completed school and was a member of a confirmation class of the Reformed church of which she was a faithful member.

Though having been afflicted with poor health since a serious illness when she was a child of ten, Gladys was a cheerful, happy girl and made many friends, especially among the younger people.

The intense suffering through which she passed the last weeks of her life made it seem a merciful thing that she need not linger here longer but even the thought that it would be unjust to wish her back, does not lessen the grief and loneliness that her going leaves in the hearts of her relatives and friends.

Her seventeen year old sister Waunetta, preceded her in death December 7th, 1922.

The funeral was held Thursday afternoon from the home, Rev. Rosenau of Colby officiating and interment took place in the Reformed cemetery. Floral offerings were many and beautiful.

Those from out of town who attended the funeral were: Mrs. Jones of Stevens Point, Mrs. Emil Sturner of Lowell, Mrs. Ben Nelander of Milwaukee, Miss Arva Sturner of Milwaukee, Mr. and Mrs. Hugo Sturner of St. Paul, Mr. and Mrs. Oscar Sturner of Colby, Mr. and Mrs. Ben Riplinger of Riplinger, Mrs. Albert Leosch of Reeseville, Mrs. Lapp and daughter Vera of Dorchester, Wisconsin.

The Advance joins with the many friends of Miss Gladys in extending sincere sympathy ot the bereaved family and relatives.
