Anton Nachtwey,Sr. was born and raised in Kreuzeber, Germany. He went to Frankfurt when he was 16, worked there for about 5 years, and emigrated from Frankfurt in 1847. The Archives of the Diocese of Green Bay show that Anton and Catherine were married in St. Luke's Church in Two Rivers.
In addition to being a school teacher, Anton Nachtwey,Jr.'s daughter Charlotte was one of "Wisconsin's First 150 Women Lawyers". She passed the bar exam in 1925. Charlotte died in Los Angeles May 8, 1977. Age 83.
