Rose Ann Filipek, age 93, of Naperville, IL, passed away peacefully at home with her family on Saturday, January 5, 2008.
She was born August 29, 1914, in Thorp, WI, loving daughter of the late Adam and Stefnia Wojt; Beloved wife of the late John W. Filipek (who passed on 1/25/07).
She is survived by her children: Larry (Anita) Filipek of Naperville, IL, and Marilyn (Greg) Miller of Lake St. Louise, MO; her grandchildren: Kristen Gamble, Brian (Sarah) Miller, Eric Filipek and Kari Miller; her sisters: Josephine (Joseph) Kosenka of Thorp, WI, Edna (Stanley) Cerby of Huntley, IL, and Wanda Cukla of Carol Stream, IL; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; her brothers: Edward, Joseph, Adam, Anthony, Victor and John; and her sister, Haddie.
Rose grew up on a dairy farm in Thorp, WI, but lived most of her life in Chicago, and the last 20 years in Naperville. She was a member of SS. Peter & Paul Catholic Church. During World War II, she served in the Women’s Army Corps as a staff sergeant, where she met her husband in Georgia. She retired from the linens department with Marshall Fields & Co., State Street store, as the Top Sales Associate.
The family would like to thank Heartland Hospice for all of their great care for Rose. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the Heartland Hospice, 4415 W. Harrison, #401, Hillside, IL 60162.
Visitation will be Thursday, January 10, 2008, from 4:00-8:00 p.m. at the Friedrich-Jones Funeral Home, 44 S. Mill, Naperville. A prayer service will conclude the evening. Interment with Military Honors will be Friday at the Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery, Elwood, IL.
