Marlene M. "Molly" Mulvaney, age 71, of Merrillan died Wednesday, January 2, 2008 in Black River Memorial Hospital.
Marlene Marie Schlafke was born April 13, 1936 in Marshfield to Raymond and Helen (Stueber) Schlafke. She was raised in Marshfield and graduated from Columbus High School, Marshfield.
Molly married Loren Mulvaney in August of 1956 in Marshfield. She worked as a waitress while Loren was a career railroader. They later moved to Merrillan where they owned and operated a snowmobile shop/pool hall. They next bought the Motel Merrillan, which they operated for 20 years.
Molly’s hobbies included snowmobiling, motorcycle riding, hunting, fishing, boating, gardening, caring for her pets, golfing and bowling. She dearly loved wild birds and wild animals and they loved her. She especially enjoyed caring for wild creatures, one of which was a motherless deer fawn, which she named "Fawna."
She is survived by her husband, Loren; a son, Timothy (Shirley Goode) Mulvaney; a daughter, Laurinda (Scott) Ruxton; grandchildren, Jennifer (Darrell) Zawistowski, Loren (Nicci Friemoth) Parker, Stephanie (Luis) Duran, Dustin (Hannah Schmidt) Ruxton, Andrew Schroeder, Chelsea Schroeder, and Wyatt Mulvaney; five great-grandchildren with two more "on-the-way;" and a sister, Carol (Dan) Lathrop.
