Schmidt, Frieda Emma (19 Dec. 1899 - 8 Jan. 1947)

Funeral services for Mrs. Ernest Schmidt, age 47, formerly of this community who was killed while on her way to work at Marengo last Wednesday, Jan. 8th, were held at the Lulloff Funeral Home in Colby Sunday afternoon, Rev. O. Hoffmann officiating, and internment was made in the Milan cemetery. Pall bearers were Arthur Giese, Elmer Schimans, Carl Zink, Loddie Larket, August Giese and Norman Wenzel. Those in charge of the flowers were Marcia Schmidt, Ruth Emke, Shirley Emke, Betty Neitzel, Lois Neitzel and Laville Neitzel.

Mrs. Schmidt, the former Frieda Emma Ehmke, was born in St. Louis, Missouri, on Dec. 19th, 1899, and was married to Ernest W. Schmidt at Packwaukee, Wis., on Dec. 8, 1920. They lived in this community several years and moved to Marengo on March 1, 1946.

Surviving are her husband; three children, Edwin of Garden Prairie, Ill., Mrs. Otis Setter (Hildegard) at home, and Arnold of Belvidere, Ill.; two brothers, Theodore Ehmke of Medford, Wis., and Otto Ehmke of Watertown, Wis., one sister, Mrs. Walter Neitzel of Edgar, Wis.

Out of town people here for the funeral were Mr. and Mrs. Laurence Damert and family, Mr. and Mrs. Walter Damert and family, Mr. and Mrs. Gust Damert, Mr. and Mrs. Ed Damert, all of Neillsville, Wis., Mr. and Mrs. Alvin Schwantes and family and Mr. and Mrs. Ed Ramond of Spencer, Mr. and Mrs. Floyd Setzer of Carbin, Kentucky, Mr. and Mrs. Charles Krueger and Sylvester of Winneconne, Mrs. Wm. McMullin, Sr., Mr. and Mrs. Ed Krueger and Marion, and Albert Krueger of Phillips, Mr. and Mrs. Lawrence DeMert, Mr. and Mrs. Walter DeMert and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. Gust DeMert, Mr. and Mrs. Lenhard Wacholtz, and Mr. and Mrs. Ed DeMert of Neillsville, Mrs. Mary Fommdal, Mr. and Mrs. Joe Fommdal and Mr. and Mrs. Lawrence Schlais of Medford.
