Meyers, Caroline (4 June 1860 - 13 Jan. 1947)

Mrs. Henry (Caroline) Meyers died at her home west of Colby Monday, Jan. 13, 1947, at 10:30 A.M. Funeral services will be held Friday at 1:30 at the Lulloff Funeral Home and at 2:00 o’clock at St. Paul’s Ev. Lutheran church, the Rev. M. C. Goetsch officiating.

The deceased was born in Sheboygan Falls, Wis., on June 4th, 1860, and was married to Henry Meyers at Howard’s Grove, Sheboygan county, on Nov. 2, 1879. They moved to Green Grove on Nov. 8th, 1879, when the vicinity was a wilderness. By hard and diligent work, they built a fine farm.

Surviving children are Mrs. F. W. (Lillian) Laak, Mrs. Dick (Marie) Sampe, Mrs. Otto (Cora) Schulte, Mrs. George (Della) Gebhardt, Mrs. John (Stella) Salter, and Herbert Meyers. Also surviving are 15 grand children and 12 great grand children. Children preceding their mother in death are Mrs. Arthur (Ida) Sommers, Mrs. George (Bertha) Sullivan, Mrs. Richard (Clara) Kalk and Clara Meyers.

The deceased was a member of St. Paul’s Ev. Lutheran church and a life-long member of the Ladies’ Aid. Like all early pioneers, she was of an industrious and congenial disposition and well liked by all who knew her.

Funeral services for Mrs. Henry Meyers were held at St. Paul’s Ev. Lutheran church at Green Grove Friday afternoon, Rev. M. C. Goetsch officiating, and internment was made in the parish cemetery. Pall bearers were Paul Woik, Theo. Sommer, John Miller, Oscar Kademan, Herman Singstock and Louie Wanke. Those in charge of the flowers were Mrs. Ervin Kademan, Mrs. Ewert Johnson, Mrs. Herbert Meyers, Jr., and Miss Audrey Schulte.

Out of town people here for the funeral were Mr. and Mrs. Richard Sampe of Byron, Ill., Mr. and Mrs. George Gebhardt of Wauwatosa, Wis., Mrs. Stella Salter of Wisconsin Rapids, Mr. and Mrs. August Spann of Marshfield.
