Smith, Augusta (5 Dec. 1870 - 20 July 1947)

Funeral services were held Wednesday afternoon at the Griebenow Funeral Home (Owen, Wisconsin) at Owen for Mrs. Augusta Smith, age 77, of Curtiss, Wisconsin, who died Sunday afternoon at 3:30 o’clock at the home of her grand daughter, Mrs. Lloyd Halverson, in Hoard. Rev. Robert C. Leonhardt of Colby officiated and internment was made in the Pine Hill cemetery at Curtiss.

The deceased was born in Germany on Dec. 5, 1870, and was married at Fond du Lac to Charles M. Smith who preceded her in death in 1944. She moved to the town of Hoard in 1892 and lived on a farm one and one-half mile southwest of Curtiss since that time.

Surviving are a son, Elmer, of Curtiss, on the home farm, a daughter, Mrs Alice Knowlton of Green Grove, a sister, Mrs. Ernest Thieme of Curtiss and five grand children.

Note:

Mr. Charles M. Smith is also known as Charles "Charlie/Chas." Schmidt. Family records shows that Charles like to change to his surname. He is the son of William Frederick & Wilhelmina "Caroline" (Priepke) Smith-Schmidt.
