Burtard, John (22 Oct. 1876 - 4 Sept. 1947)
Funeral services were held Sunday afternoon at 2:00 o’clock at the Griebenow Funeral Home (Owen, Wisconsin) at Owen for John Burtard, age 70, of Curtiss, route 1, who died last Thursday at the Marshfield, Wisconsin Hospital where he was a patient since August 27. Rev. B. M. Fresenberg, pastor of the Zion Reformed church at Greenwood, officiated and burial was made in the Pine Hill cemetery.
The deceased was born in St. Nazianz, Manitowoc county, on October 22, 1876, and was married at Colby on October 2, 1902, to Miss Lizzie Glenzer. They lived in Colby until 1911 when they moved to the town of Hoard where Mr. Burtard operated a cheese factory. He retired five years ago.
Surviving are his widow and three sons and three daughters, John of Owen, Gilbert of Hoard, Reuben of Gilman, Mrs. Albert (Angeline) Smith of Curtiss, Mrs. Joseph (Lillie) Askermann and Mrs. Walter (Elenora) Nicks of Dorchester, Wisconsin. There are 17 grand children and one great grand child. His parents, four brothers and two sisters preceded him in death.
