Gierl, Joe (1885 - 8 Nov. 1947)

Joe Gierl, born on the Gierl farm at Colby, died at his farm home at Athens last Saturday after an illness of five years. Funeral services were held at the Catholic church at Athens Tuesday morning and internment was made in the Colby (Colby, Clark Co. Wis.) Cemetery. The Athens Legion post had charge of the military rites.

The deceased, who reached the age of 62 years, was married to Mary Jansch of Dorchester in 1920 after which they moved onto a farm at Athens.

Surviving are his wife, a son, Edward, a daughter, Rose Marie, four brothers, Killian Gierl, Louis Gierl and George Gierl, all of Colby, and Albert Gierl of Athens, and four sisters, Anna Dhein of Clintonville, Ida Lukowicz of Colby, Catherine Seaberry of Michigan and Mary Diedrich of Milwaukee, Wisconsin.
