Marlyn H. Bartsch

Marlyn H. Bartsch, 85, of Wausau died Friday, March 23, 2007, at Aspirus Hospice House, Wausau.

Marlyn was born Jan. 11, 1922, to the late Carl and Leona (Reisner) Bartsch in Loyal. He married Evelyn Peterson on June 29, 1946, in Schofield. Marlyn served his country honorably in the U.S. Army in the European Theater during World War II. He was the recipient of the Purple Heart and the Bronze Star. Marlyn also received five battle stars for his service in five major battles on the continent. He was a lineman for Wisconsin Public Service for more than 35 years. Marlyn treasured his vacation and leisure times camping with his family in their camper in the Tomahawk area. There he would fish and play cribbage with his family and friends. Marlyn enjoyed watching all types of sporting events. It was said that he had a green thumb, being successful at raising vegetables in his garden and nurturing geraniums through the winter in his home.

Survivors include his wife, Evelyn Bartsch; a daughter, Sandra Jahnke, Wausau; three brothers, Delmar (Viola) Bartsch, La Crosse, Everette (Helen) Bartsch, Marshfield, and Harlan (Darlene) Bartsch, Milwaukee, Wisconsin. He was preceded in death by one sister and an infant son.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday, March 27, 2007, at Trinity Lutheran Church, Wausau. The Rev. Dennis Pegorsch will officiate. Burial will be in Restlawn Memorial Park, Wausau, at a later date. Visitation will be from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. today at the Helke Funeral Home, Wausau.

Visitation will continue from 10 a.m. Tuesday until the time of services at the church.
