Schuette, Arlene D. (Marriage - 16 June 1948)

Arlene D. Schuette, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Hugo H. Schuette of Unity, and Calvin Schulz of Colby, son of Mr. and Mrs. Ernst W. Schulz, were married at Zion Ev, Lutheran church at Colby, Saturday, June 19, at 2:00 o’clock, Rev. M. C. Goetsch officiating at the ceremony. Miss Ethel Schuette, sister of the bride, was maid of honor and Mrs. Julius Schulz, sister in law of the groom, and Mrs. Merlin Schuette, sister in law of the bride, were bridesmaids. The groom was attended by Donald Schulz, his brother, as best man, and Julius Schulz, another brother, and Merlin Schuette, brother of the bride. Ushers were Orville Schuette, brother of the bride, and Maynard Bauer, brother in law of the groom. Mrs. Maynard Bauer, sister of the groom, sang "God Gave Me You" and "The Lord’s Prayer" during the candlelight ceremony.

The bride was attired in a gown of white slipper satin with three lace inserts beginning at the shoulders in the back and extending through the full satin train, styled with a sweetheart neckline with satin flower on each side of the neckline and lace topped sleeves and then satin sleeves, extending in points over the wrists. Her long veil was edged in wide lace caught to a seed pearl tiara. She wore a double strand pearl necklace. The maid of honor wore an orchid taffeta dress with a low round neckline with a hoop skirt picked up in front with orchid flowers. Her bouquet consisted of pink and white carnations with orchid maline in the back. Mrs. Julius Schulz wore a yellow dress and styled exactly like the maid of honor’s. Her bouquet consisted of pink and yellow carnations with yellow maline background. Mrs. Merline Schuette wore a lime green dress styled exactly as the maid of honor’s. Her bouquet consisted of pink and yellow carnations with green maline background. The bride’s mother wore a multi-colored dress with white accessories and a corsage of pink and white roses. The groom’s mother wore a light black dress with white accessories and a corsage of pink and white roses. A reception was given at the home of the bride’s parents which was decorated with white, orchid, yellow and green streamers and white wedding bells. Tables were decorated with white, orchid, yellow and green streamers and white wedding bells. Tables were decorated with white, orchid, yellow and green candles with a three tier wedding cake decorated in the same colors. 150 relatives and friends were served at the reception. In the evening, a wedding dance was given at Walter’s pavilion.

The couple will be at home after June 28th, at the home of the bride’s parents. The groom is employed as cheesemaker at Pine Grove Cheese Factory, Loyal.
