Apfelbeck, Gertrude (Marriage - 27 Oct. 1948)
Miss Gertrude Apfelbeck, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Bernard Apfelbeck of Colby, and Francis X. Pevan, son of Mrs. Velma Pevan of Chippewa Falls, were united in a double ring ceremony at the St. Mary’s Catholic church at Colby Wednesday, Oct. 27, Rev. N. B. Beschta officiating. Miss Josephine Vanamon, cousin of the bride, of Nashuha, Ia., was maid of honor and Miss Catherine Kromschuster of Chippewa Falls was the bridesmaid. The groom was attended by Wm. Apfelbeck, brother of the bride, as best man, and by Laurence Pevan, brother of the groom.
The bride was attired in a gown of white satin, short train, finger tip veil with tier of seed pearls. She also wore a pearl necklace and her bouquet consisted of white roses. The maid of honor wore a yellow taffeta dress with a headband of white and yellow chrsanthemums. Her bouquet consisted of white chrysanthemums and blue carnations. Both attendants also wore identical necklaces of pearls and gold, gifts of the bride. Both mothers wore black dresses with black accessories and corsages of white and red carnations.
A reception was held at the home of the bride’s parents where supper was served 75 guests. A three tier wedding cake centered the table.
The young couple left on a wedding trip to Northern Wisconsin and will be at home after October 31 at Chippewa Falls, Wis. The groom is employed by the National Pressure Cooker, Eau Claire.
Out of town people her for the wedding were Mrs. Velma Pevan, Mrs. Eva Martell, Mrs. Joseph Kromschuster, Miss Jane Thibedrau, Ed Helgerson, all of Chippewa Falls, Mr. and Mrs. Paul Hager of Cadott, Mr. and Mrs. Theo, Wahsman and daughter, Josephine, of Hoshua, Ia., Mrs. Joseph Hoffman, Sr., Mrs. Byril Sinwell, Mrs. John Jacobs of Ioma, Ia., Mr. and Mrs. Frank Rosenke and daughter, Eleanor, of New Hampton, ? Mrs. Neil Driscoll and son, Mr. and Mrs. John Simple, Cornelius Driscoll and daughter and son of Owen.
