Koll, Phillip (29 Apr. 1881 - 2 Mar. 1948)

Phillip Koll, a former resident of Colby, Wisconsin, died suddenly in Racine on March 2nd, a heart attack being the cause of his death. Funeral services were held Friday, March 5th, at Racine. Attending the services from here were Leo J. Lukowicz, Jane Lukowicz, and Mr. and Mrs. Byron Olson and John Lukowicz of Owen.

Mr. Koll had not been feeling well for several weeks and the doctor told him he had a bad heart and should not do any hard work as snow shoveling, etc. However, after the big snow storm at Racine, he then went out and shoveled snow and was striken while shoveling.

The deceased was born April 29, 1881, and died March 2, 1948, thus reaching the age of 67 years. While living in Colby, he worked for his father in law, the late August Lukowicz, in the former grist mill in Colby, Wisconsin. Later he managed the mill for the Lukowicz family. He also worked a short time at the former canning factory in Colby, Wisconsin. He left Colby about 20 years ago and was employed by the Johnson Wax Co. of Racine, Wis. He retired in 1945.

The deceased will be remembered by many Colby people as a man with a friendly and congenial disposition who always endeavored to do his duties to the best of his ability.

Surviving are his wife - the former Anna Lukowicz, and one sister.
