Buelow, Judy (1942? - 20 May 1948)
Judy, the 6-year-old daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Odville Buelow, town of Eau Pleine, Portage county, who was burned about the arms and body April 17 while attempting to save some of her dresses from the blazing home of her parents, died Thursday night at 11 o’clock at St. Michael’s hospital in Stevens Point.
The little girl, who had been attending a Saturday session of her school, held to permit early closing for the term, discovered that no other member of the family was at home when she noticed the house was burning and attempted to save some of her personal belongings.
She was seen leaving the burning home with her clothing ablaze and was rushed to the hospital at Stevens Point by a passing neighbor, who first extinguished the fire in her clothing. The house, completed last August, burned to the ground.
The parents and Judy’s brother and sister, Orville, 5, and Karen, 2, were shopping in nearby Junction City at the time of the fire.
