Firnstahl, Marie (22 Sept. 1870 - Sept. 1948)
Funeral services for Mrs. Marie Firnstahl, age 77, whose death was reported last week, were held in St. Mary’s Catholic church on Monday morning, Rev. N. B. Beschta officiating, and internment was made in the Colby (Colby, Clark Co. Wis.) Cemetery. Grand sons were pall bearers.
Marie Peter was born in Bodenhein, Germany, Sept. 22, 1870, and came to this country at the age of 18. She was married to Steve Firnstahl Feb. 11, 1896, in Chicago. A short time later they moved to a farm east of Colby where they made their home. Mr. Firnstahl died in 1908.
Surviving are four children - Mrs. W. E. (Irma) Chaput of Niagara Falls, N.Y., Mrs. Henry (Irene) Van Lear of St. Paul, Minn., Ewald Firnstahl of St. Paul, Minn., and Herbert Firnstahl of Colby, Wisconsin. Also one sister, Mrs. Susa Christal of Bakerfield, Calif., 21 grand children and one great grand child.
The deceased was a good Christian, honest in all her dealings who always endeavored to perform her duties well. She was of a congenial disposition and enjoyed visiting her friends until about a year ago when she suffered a stroke since which time she had not been well.
