Schmidt, Louise (25 May 1881 - 20 Oct. 1948)

Mrs. Charles F. Schmidt of Milan died while enroute to the Memorial Hospital at Wausau last week Wednesday afternoon. Mrs. Schmidt suffered a stroke in July but was able to be up and about again. She suffered another stroke last week Wednesday, about noon, while preparing a meal.

The body was taken to the Lulloff Funeral Home in Colby where it remained in state until Saturday afternoon when funeral services were held at the First Ev. and Reformed church in Colby, Wis., Rev. H. H. Heutzenroeder of Athens officiating, and internment was made in the Colby (Colby, Clark Co. Wis.) Cemetery. Pall bearers were M. C. Ellingson, Paul Benzman, John S. Schreiber, Ferd. Huhn, Wm. Gaiser and Arthur Bialkonski. Flowers were in charge of nieces - Mrs. Chester Schmidt, Mrs. Bert Eberts, Mrs. Arnold Ruprich, Mrs. D. H. Zillmann, Mrs. Eugene Blair and Mrs. Gaylord Pipcorn.

Louise Herrmann was born at Colby May 25, 1881. She was educated in the Colby schools and for some years taught in Clark county schools. She was the first teacher in the Milan school and that same year on Oct. 25, 1905, she was married to Charles F. Schmidt, at Colby, Wisconsin. They made their home in Milan all their married life, where Mrs. Schmidt was an active member of St. John’s Ev. Lutheran church and the Ladies’ Aid.

Mrs. Schmidt is survived by her husband and three sons - Vernon of Rockford, Ill., Galen of Buffalo, N.Y., and Alfred at home. Also one sister, Mrs. Ed Zillmann of Colby, and two grand daughters, Jans, of Rockford and Dona of Buffalo. Three brothers preceded her in death. Out of town people here for the funeral were Mr. and Mrs. Galen Schmidt of Buffalo, N.Y., Vernon Schmidt of Rockford, Ill., Mr. and Mrs. Chester Schmidt, Mrs. Bernita Pipcorn and Wesley Schmidt of Milwaukee, Mrs. John Zimmer and Mrs. Reinhold Danields of Thorp, Mr. and Mrs. Bert Eberts of Owen, Mr. and Mrs. D. H. Zillmann of Eau Claire, Mr. and Mrs. R. H. Zillmann of Baldwin, Mr. and Mrs. Arnold Ruprich of Dorchester, Mr. and Mrs. Eugene Blair of Spencer; Albert Leichtnam of Dorchester, Mr. and Mrs. Al Herrmann of Curtiss, Mr. and Mrs. Frank Stremer of Athens, Mr. and Mrs. George Blank, Mrs. Amelia Harry, Mrs. Aug. Buchholz and Herman Brunner of Wausau, Mr. and Mrs. A. B. Ellingson of Alberta, Canada.
