Funeral services for John Hoege, age 73, whose death was reported last week, were held Friday afternoon at the Lulloff Funeral Home at Colby, where the body had been lying in state, Rev. M. C. Goetsch officiating, and internment was made at Milwaukee, Wisconsin.
John Hoege was born at Reedsville on April 15, 1875. When he was three weeks old, his father died, and at the age of six his mother died. He was then cared for by foster parents, Mr. and Mrs. Wm. Mertz.
On July 30, 1899, he was married, in Reedsburg, to Miss Emma Fokett. Mr. Hoage purchased a farm near Curtiss where they made their home until two years ago. They sold the farm and went to Milwaukee for six months and then came to Abbotsford where they made their home.
Mr. Hoage has been in ill health the past six months and was admitted to St. Joseph’s hospital, Marshfield, Oct. 12. He died of a heart ailment at 4:00 a.m. Wednesday.
He was a member of St. Paul’s Evangelical Lutheran church and for a number of years served on the town board of the town of Mayville.
