Kaiser, Mercedes Margaret (Marriage - 11 June 1952)

Mercedes Margaret Kaiser, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Andrew Kaiser and Howard M. Barr, son of Mr. and Mrs. W. H. Barr, exchanged marriage vows in a ceremony performed Wednesday morning, June 11, in St. Mary’s Catholic church in Colby, Wis., Rev. N. B. Beschta officiating.

A lace vest that closed in front with a row of tiny self-covered buttons provided an interesting feature to the nylon net-over-white satin gown selected by the bride. A ruffle of the same lace finished the vest’s neckline. Her net veil cascaded from a ruffled bonnet of net. Her bouquet was composed of pink and white roses.

Lace that formed the bodices of the net-over-satin gowns worn by the two bridal aides was repeated in the panels of the full skirts. The sleeves were puffed. Miss Kathleen Kaiser, in orchid, was maid of honor for her sister and Mrs. Maurice Thompson of Tomahawk, sister of the groom, in green, was bridesmaid. They carried bouquets of pink and white carnations tied with ribbons. Both wore matching net half-bonnets.

The groom was attended by Donald Kaiser, brother of the bride, and Maurice Thompson. Ushers were Anthony and Marvin Schillinger of Marshfield.

Breakfast was served the bridal party at the home of the bride’s parents and dinner and supper was served in St. Mary’s gymnasium.

The newlyweds, who attended Colby High School, will reside in Colby when they return from their honeymoon in Northern Wisconsin. Mrs. Barr is employed by the Commonwealth Telephone Company in Colby and the groom by the Lewis Container Co.
