Gierl, Mary Lou (Marriage - 11 Oct. 1952)

Mary Lou Gierl, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. B. H. Klinkhammer, exchanged marriage vows with Keith Zimmerman, son of Mr. and Mrs. Dave Zimmerman at Our Lady of Mercy Catholic church at Cogswell, N. Dak., Saturday, Oct. 11th, Father Luger officiating at the double ring ceremony. The church was decorated with autumn flowers and lighted candles. The bride was given in marriage by her step father. She was attired in an entrained white satin gown and chantilly lace featuring long sleeves and a full skirt with panels of lace. A lace cap held her finger-tip veil. She wore a rhinestone necklace, a gift of the groom. Her bouquet consisted of red roses and white chrysanthemums.

Miss Jean Klinkhammer, step sister of the bride, was maid of honor and Miss Patricia Gierl, sister of the bride, was bridesmaid. Miss Klinkhammer wore blue net over blue satin and the bridesmaid wore aqua net over aqua satin. Their gowns were identically styled and both wore matching flower wreaths in their hair. Both wore rhinestone necklaces, gifts of the bride.

Peter Gierl of Colby, brother of the bride, was best man and James Siedel of Abbotsford, cousin of the bride, was groomsman. Both wore red ties, gifts of the bride.

The bride’s mother wore a wine suit with brown accessories and a corsage of red roses and white carnations. The groom’s mother wore a green dress with black accessories and a corsage of red roses and white carnations.

A reception was held at 2:30 at the home of the bride which was decorated with white, blue and aqua streamers and a beautiful three-tier wedding cake. A wedding dance was held in the evening.

The couple left on a wedding trip through Minnesota and will be at home 11 miles from St. Paul after Oct. 29.

Out-of-town relatives attending were Mr. and Mrs. Math Duellman of Dorchester, Mr. and Mrs. Floyd Gierl and daughter, Betty, of Athens, Louis, George, Killian and Peter Gierl of Colby, Mrs. Oscar Siedel and son, James of Abbotsford and others from points in Minnesota, Iowa, North Dakota and South Dakota.
