Katyla, John (25 FEB 1882 - 9 JAN 1943)
Withee, Clark Co., Wis. - John Katyla, 60, died Saturday, Jan. 9, 1943, at his farm home, 3 ½ miles north of Withee, following a short illness caused by a heart ailment.
The body will lie in state at the Central Wis. Co-operative Funeral Home, Marshfield, from Tuesday evening until Wednesday morning, when it will be taken to Finnish Lutheran Church, Owen, to lie in state there from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m.
The Rev. George Autio will officiate at the 1 o’clock church services, and burial will be made in Riverside Cemetery, Owen (actually Withee).
Mr. Katyla was born in Finland Feb. 25, 1882, and when he was 20 years old he came to America, working in mines in Ishpeming, Mich., until 1913, when he came to Clark County to buy a farm. Since that time he had lived here.
His marriage to Mary Luhtala of Owen took place Sept. 3, 1916.
Surviving besides his wife are two daughters, Elsie Zielonis at home, and Miss Ellen Katyla, Chicago; a sister, Mrs. Hilma Saaremos, Finland, and a grandson.
