Polster, LaVerne J. (5 JUL 1924 - 20 JAN 2008)

LaVerne J. Polster, 83, Colby, Wis. died at his home, on Sunday, Jan. 20, 2008. Visitation will be held on Thursday, Jan. 24, from 9:30 a.m. until the time of service at 11:30, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Colby, Wis. A rosary service will begin at 11 a.m. at the church. The Rev. Keith Apfelbeck will officiate. Burial will be at Southern Wisconsin’s Veterans Memorial Cemetery at Union Grove. Full military rites will be conducted by the Colby VFW, of which he was a member. Family will serve as pallbearers.

LaVerne J. Polster was born on July 5, 1924, in Stratford, to Peter and Marie (nee Dahlke) Polster. He graduated from Stratford High School in 1942. He served in the Navy during World War ll from 1943-46. He married Jane Guden on May 28, 1949.

He worked for Northern States Power for 20 years, then became a salesman for Catholic Family Insurance. He enjoyed hunting and fishing.

Survivors include his wife, Jane Polster, Colby; three sons, Greg (Cathy) Polster, Madison, Jim (Cindy) Polster, Colby, and Mike (Deb) Polster, Madison; one daughter, Mary (Eric) Doyle, Seattle, Wash.; seven grandchildren; and one brother, Peter Jr. (Virginia) Polster, Oconomowoc.

Preceding him in death were his parents, Peter and Marie Polster; two brothers, Verlyn Polster and Ronald Polster, and one sister, Lita Sidel.

Maurina Funeral Home, Abbotsford, is assisting the family with arrangements
