Burtard, Elizabeth (10 Mar. 1880 - 8 Dec. 1952)
Mrs. Elizabeth Burtard died on December 8 at the Stanley hospital, after a few months illness, at the age of 72 years, eight months and 28 days. Funeral services were held at the Greibnow Funeral Home in Owen and internment was made in the Pine Hill Cemetery at Curtiss, Rev. Siegfried Dietrich, pastor of Peace Ev. and Reformed church of Curtiss officiating.
The pall bearers were Otto Bublitz, Charles Lehman, Irvin Goessel, Charles Rohn, Elmer Voightlander and William Schultz. Mrs. Alfred Thompson and Mrs. DuWayne Bulgrin, accompanied by Mrs. Lee Smiley, sang "Rock of Ages" and "Beyond the Sunset."
Mrs. Burtard, daughter of Christa Rueben and Christ Glenzer, was born on March 10, 1880, in Sheboygan. In 1901, she was united in marriage to John P. Burtard. They lived in Colby and Mr. Burtard operated a cheese factory in the town of Hoard. Later they moved onto a farm. Her husband preceded her in death.
Surviving are her six children, Angeline Smith of Curtiss, Lillie Ackerman of Curtiss, John Burtard of Owen, Elenora Nicks of Dorchester, Gilbert Burtard of Curtiss and Rueben Burtard of Gilman; two sisters, Mrs. Lina Krueger of Owen and Mrs. Mary Krueger of Colby; two brothers, Alphonse Glenzer of Whittlesay and Anton Glenzer of Rib Lake. There are 19 grand children and six great grand children.
