Polster, La Verne (5 Jul 1924 - 20 Jan 2008)
La Verne Polster, 83, Colby, died at his home, Sunday, January 20, 2008.
Funeral Services will be at 11:30 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 24, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Colby, Wis. Visitation will start at 9:30 a.m. until the time of service. A Rosary service will begin at 11 a.m. at the church. Father Keith Apfelbeck will preside. Burial will be at Southern Wisconsin’s Veterans Memorial Cemetery at Union Grove. Family will serve as pallbearers.
Full military rites will be conducted by the Colby VFW of which he was a member.
La Verne was born July 5, 1925 to Peter and Marie (Dahlke) Polster in Stratford.
He graduated from Stratford High School in 1942. La Verne served in the Navy during World War II from 1943 to 1946.
La Verne married Jane Guden on May 28, 1949. He worked for Northern States Power for 20 years, then became a salesman for Catholic Family Insurance.
He enjoyed hunting and fishing.
La Verne is survived by his wife, Jane Polster, Colby; sons, Greg (Cathy) Polster, Madison, Jim (Cindy) Poster, Colby, Mike (Deb) Polster, Madison; daughter, Mary (Eric) Doyle, Seattle WA; one brother Peter Jr. (Virgine) Polster, Oconomowoc; and seven grandchildren.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Peter and Marie (Dahlke) Polster; borther Veryln Polster and Ronald Polster; and one sister, Lita Sidel.
Maurina Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.
