NEW WARRANT ISSUED John Austin and Mrs. Geldenech Arrested Jointly
The hearing of John Austin and Mrs. Geldenech of Chili, charged in separate complaints with adultery, took place at the city hall before Judge R. E. Andrews last Saturday, about ten wittnesses being examined. The defendants were to have been bound over for trial but it was deemed advisable to vchange the form of complaint and a new warrant was accordingly issued upon a joint complaint. The hearing under the new proceeding was to have been held Tuesday but was adjourned to Tuesday, the 19th, at 2 p.m. Distruict Attorney Brazeau is hanfling the case for the state and Hon. F. A. Cady of Grand rapids, appears for the defense.
The evidence at the hearing last Saturday seemed to indicate social depravity among parties to the transactions out of which the trouble arose. Notwithstanding the nature of the accusation the woman has been living with her husband up to the time of her arrest and he furnished bail for her when she was first arrested. The defendant Austin was bailed out last Saturday but Mrs. Geldenech could not furnish bail and was confined to the city jail until taken to Grand rapids by Sheriff Ebbe.
