Baumgarten, Ernest W. (3 APR 1874 - 12 JAN 1941)

Ernest William Baumgarten, 66, passed away at his home in the Town of Worden (Clark Co., Wis.), on Sunday, Jan. 12th, 1941, after having suffered a paralytic stroke.

He was born April 3, 1874, in Germany and came to the United States when three years of age, and lived in Calumet County until 52 years ago when he came to the Stanley Country and settled on a farm in the Town of Worden, where he has since resided.

On June 29, 1901, he was united in marriage to Miss Ida Beckman at Worden. Five children were born to this union, all of whom, with the widow, survive, namely: Clara, Mrs. John Miller of Worden; Gertrude, Mrs. Bert Cardinal of Withee; Anna, Mrs. Clarence Wright, Cromwell, Ind.; Mildred, Mrs. Max Schultze of Thorp, and Harold at home. He is also survived by two sisters, Mrs. Minnie Lees of Medford, and Mrs. Hugo Swartz of Priest River, Idaho, and 24 grandchildren.

The funeral was held on Tuesday, Jan. 14th, at two o’clock, from the Epiphany Evangelical Lutheran Church with Rev. F. H. Sprengler of Thorp officiating.

The pallbearers were Joe Miller, Willard Henderson, John Wry, William Camp, Alfred Berg, and Harry Boie.

Out of town relatives and friends who attended the funeral were: Mrs. Minnie Lees, Mr. and Mrs. Ernie Lees, Medford; Mr. and Mrs. George Beckman, Eau Claire; Norman Baehr, Harry Baehr, Ina Baehr, of Withee; Mr. and Mrs. Otto Beckman and children, Mrs. William Kenney, Mr. and Mrs. Alfred Baldeschwiler, Mrs. Laura Nelson, Raymond Raether, Mr. and Mrs. Charles Vetterkind, of Thorp.
