Warner, Bill (1941)
Bill Warner, now 73 years of age, has been a continuous contributor of news to "The Thorp Courier" for 55 years. His weekly letter from "Roger Creek and Town Line", "Eidsvold", has been eagerly scanned by our subscribers, and is beyond a doubt one of the most interesting of our correspondence columns.
Mr. Warner’s health is not of the best at present, but he manages to do his bit each week and we appreciate his efforts.
Bill was born Nov. 11, 1867, at Theresa, N.Y. He came with his parents and sisters to Clark County, overland by ox team, arriving here on May 14, 1874. They homesteaded 160 acres in the Town of Hixon (now Town of Thorp), and there Bill was brought up and received his schooling. He attended high school in Thorp when E.J. Ketcham and W.H. Crowley were principals and taught school for ten years beginning in 1887.
He was married to Netta Jacobs, June 23rd, 1910. They have two children, Stephen and Laurel, now of Chippewa Falls.
Bill is now the oldest continuous resident of the Town of Thorp, having lived within the town for nearly sixty-seven years.
