Marek, Paul J. (25 DEC 1874 - 15 FEB 1941)
Last rites were conducted by Father Kulig and Father Papierniak at St. Hedwig’s Church on Tuesday morning for Paul J. Marek, a farmer of the town of Withee (Clark Co., Wis.) for the past thirty-two years, who passed away of peritonitis at St. Joseph’s Hospital Chippewa Falls on Saturday, Feb. 15th, 1941. He had reached the age of 66 years, 1 month and 21 days.
Mr. Marek was born in Germany on Dec. 25, 1874. In 1879 he came to America and resided for 13 years in Duluth, Minn. He was united in marriage to Frances Paczynski in October 1899 at Duluth, Minn., and came to Thorp with his wife and family in 1909.
He is survived by his widow and four sons, Leon and Walter of Thorp, John of Chicago, and Joseph of Detroit; three daughters, Marie (Mrs. Joseph Stipka), Proctor, Minn., Roxy of Milwaukee and Rose of Chicago, three brothers, Mike of Thorp, Martin and Valentine in Europe; and one sister, Katherine in Poland; also seven grandchildren.
He was laid to rest in the parish cemetery, the following acting as pallbearers: Paul and Joe Konieczny, Peter Wnek, John Maslowski, Wm. Zawacki and Steve Kulczyk.
