Banderob, Helene (3 MAR 1857 - 20 MAR 1941)

Mrs. Herman Banderob, former pioneer resident of Thorp (Clark Co., Wis.), passed away at the home of her daughter, Mrs. H.W. Hansen, at Eau Claire on Thursday, March 20, 1941, of old age complications.

Helena Hipke was born on March 3, 1857, at New Holstein, Wis., and had reached the age of 84 years and 17 days.

She was united in marriage to Herman Banderob at New Holstein on Nov. 13, 1873. She came to Thorp with her husband in the years 1882 when this territory was a wooded wilderness, and settled on a piece of land in the town of Thorp (now Worden). Ten years later they moved to the village where Mr. Banderob opened up a harness shop and where she resided until the death of her husband in Dec. 1925, when she moved to Eau Claire to live with her daughter.

Friends of Mrs. Banderob remember her as a woman of intelligence who endured the hardships of life with a quiet steadfastness while she enjoyed the companionship of family and friends as a member of our community.

Surviving her are two daughters, (Amelia) Mrs. Sam Christenson and (Lottie) Mrs. H.W. Hansen, of Eau Claire, Wis.; one brother, Peter Hipke of Seattle, Wash.; seven grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. One daughter, Tina, preceded her in death in 1929.

Rev. E.E. Clark, Eau Claire, district superintendent of the Methodist Church, officiated at the services which were held at the Bogumill funeral Home at two o’clock on Saturday afternoon and interment was made in the East Thorp Cemetery. Pallbearers were: R.G. Lawrence, D.D. Stookey, Stanley Glamkowski, Louis Gruszynski, L.P. Walsdorf and Wm. S. Wagner.
