STARTS WORK ON HIGHWAY NO. 16

John McGregor was in Abbotsford from Friendship this week looking after the beginning of the construction of the new road to be build East of this city on Highway 16 this season. The stretch to be completed a this time begins at the Randall Creek corner 8 miles East and comes to the Marathon County Line in the village.

Mr. McGregor now has a crew of men clearing the old highway and will have his construction crew here in a few days. The work will take until sometime in October to complete this stretch of Highway 16 running straight into Wausau from Abbotsford, Wis.

When 16 is completed it will mean a straight run of 35 miles to the center of the city of Wausau from the corner where 13 and 16 join in this city. May the good work go on.

Joe Moore of this city was with Mr. McGregor Tuesday making an estimate on the construction work on the concrete bridges and culverts that will be necessary on this part of the road.

Note: Highway No. 16 is the forerunner of present day State Highway 29.
