Olson, John M. #2 (22 AUG 1875 - 19 JAN 1941)

John M. Olson, son of Mr. and Mrs. Ole Olson of near Greenwood was born August 22, 1875. He has been a resident of West Beaver nearly all his life, except two years which were spent in Neenah.

He attended school at Greenwood. On Dec. 10, 1910 he was united in marriage to Miss Thora Bragstad of Neenah, Wis., who preceded him in death April 5, 1919. Her aged mother has remained in the home caring for her children all these years. There were three children left motherless. Eleanore, now Mrs. Ralph Ystad of Neillsville, Oscar, who went West and married Mina Simmons of Helena, Montana and now residing south of Loyal, and Melvin who is still at home.

Mr. Olson was taken ill with the flu and heart complications caused his death January 19, 1941 at St. Joseph’s Hospital, Marshfield. It was a shock to the community and the bereaved ones have the sympathy of their friend.

Mr. Olson leaves to mourn his loss besides his children, two brothers Andrew and Henry and one sister Marie and his aged mother-in-law, Mrs. Maren Bragstad all of the Town of Warner. Also six grandchildren Norman, Norbert and Noel Olson, Neil, Ronald and Roger Ystad.

Funeral services were held Wednesday January 22 at the Schiller funeral parlors and at 1:30 at the Trondhjem Lutheran Church, Rev. M. K. Aaberg officiating. He was laid to rest in the Greenwood cemetery.

Pall bearers were Will Rossow, Emil Kolstad, Wesley Worden, Olaf Johnson, Oliver Hendrickson, and Gus Paschke. West Beaver Cor.
